Help Features

Overview

Getting in to a new software program can sometines seem like climbing a mountain.

Whilst we have made ProQuin highly intuitive, we don't make any apologies for taking some new approaches and you may need tthe help features to lead you through that.

The help is split into 4 levels with a fifth which is down to you the customer .

Level 1 - The Manual

It is a common mistake in the software industry to have the manuals written by the technical personnel responsible for writing the software. This results in a manual which has either a technical flavour to it (ie unintelligible) or omits important prompts which the programmers think are self evident when they are not - or both of these things .

We belive the ProQuin Manual avoids those pitfalls. Written by non technical personnel and ratified by people who do not know the product at all, we believe our manual is clear, to the point, easy to use and a genuine asset when learning to use ProQuin.

Level 2 - Context Sensitive Help

Every screen in ProQuin comes with its own context sensitive help panel that can be easily invoked througth a function key or left on permanently by setting an option in the help menu.

This help panel leads you through the purpose of any screen you are using and explains each field in turn.

It is not fully comprehensive, but does contain links to a browser based full help that explains functions and features in greater detail - see level 3 below.

Level 3 - Full Help

The full help is based on the manual and comes with pictures and directions as well as a search facility.

The full help can be invoked from the context based help panels on the left of each screen, or from the help menu on the menu bar on the top as you would expect.

User experience is of course a moving target , so we have an additional level of support which can be invoked from the main help screens and which is online and continually updated.

Level 4 - Online Help

Online Help is a support function which is changed regularly and can be drawn upon by users of the full help features.

The idea of the online help is to provide additional insight on how best to use the system. So user examples and case studies are provided to give an additional insight into how to get the best out of ProQuin and your own business operations.

Level 5 - User Confuigfured Help

This is a bit of a surprise to some people - a write your own help feature.

The Enterprise version of ProQuin allows you to toggle between the system help panel (see context sensitive help above) and a help panel you write yourself. This allows you to write into the system your own procedures - massively reducing the need for printed paperwork relating to quality, environmental , health and safety or indeed any other standards you may work to.

You can choose between controlled and uncontrolled updates. In other words you can choose to fit the custom help into your formal management system if you have one, but if you want to keep it loose and flexible - well you can still do that.
